After 10 adventurous years living in Umbria, we decided to bring a piece with us to Vienna and open up our very own shop. We aim to showcase the very best of what Umbria has to offer and of course our own olive oil and wine too!

Our family run Azienda Agricola - Corbine di mezzo is perched upon the hills between the historic towns of Assisi and Perugia which provides an impressive backdrop and an ideal climate for the nurturing of some 3000 olive trees, a 2 hectare vineyard and of course home to Villa St Croce our luxury rental property.

We never stop to be amazed by the wonderful endeavours of the Umbrian people and what they produce, we will keep supporting them with our slice of Umbria here in Vienna and we look forward to your visit.

    AZIENDA AGRICOLA SEMETELLA

The first time I met Mirca is was clear from the get go that her unbound enthusiasm, personality and words transport you into the wonders of the Umbrian mountains and its terrain. With her Fiat 500 she rumbles over the hills and fields checking on her crops, her tomatoes, basil, celery, carrots, onions and the crowning glory her chillis. All this is set amongst luscious fig tress and you wonder if this is all for real or from some fairytale!

    MIRCA BRANCALEONE

Mirca though, is at heart a true organic farmer with hugely passionate beliefs in paying tribute to the earth and climate that has been provided for by nature.

    MIRCA BRANCALEONE

Mirca though, is at heart a true organic farmer with hugely passionate beliefs in paying tribute to the earth and climate that has been provided for by nature. Every year she lovingly sorts and selects the best seeds from last years crops for the following year and respects the natural timing and yield of each product. Her marmalades of red onion, chilli and fig are only steamed in order to preserve the vitamins, colours and flavours, with the obvious of no additives added.

For us, her tomato passata is the embodiment of her work and its utterly delicious.

    LEOPARDI PASTA

From now on this is the only pasta you should ever eat!

Since visiting Mama Giuliana and her son Gabriele LEOPARDI in NORCIA we are convinced that this is the best pasta we have ever cooked in our home.

We all are maybe aware of the terrible earthquakes that hit Norcia over 2 years ago, destroying large parts of the town completely but to see it with ones own eyes is something else. Most extraordinary of all is the sheer will of the people to carry on with life and those lucky enough to survive live in containers, still 2 years on.

With tourism having been almost entirely destroyed the people had to turn to other activities to live. Giuliana und Gabriele decided to do just that, without the tourists visiting almost everyday and their shop destroyed they were not left with many options. They decided to start up again but changed from their fresh pasta to dried which provides a huge benefit as they can now sell it all over the world, from such destruction hopefully comes some new possibilities …

    SENATORE CAPELLI

SENATORE CAPELLI only use a special type of wheat that is no longer in use in todays fast paced world due to the need for high yielding, mass produced varieties. They returned to this older variety in order to obtain a higher protein content pasta but with a far lower gluten count, something which cannot be achieved industrially.

Giuliana and Gabriele live in Norcia and work in one of the few remaining ancient stone mills left in Umbria, carefully grinding the grain by hand into a dough. This handmade dough requires time to make with drying times of up to 30 hours before it's ready to become varying type of pasta including; fettucine, tagliatelle, and stringozzi.

Of course all this work means that you end up with a far superior plate of pasta for such specialities, such as wild boar ragu or ALLA NORCINA, both famous plates of pasta in these parts of Umbria and can be now easily made at home too!
